|Objectives||Contribute significantly to advanced studies of mutual interest to the U.S. and Spain by teaching,
preferably at graduate level; conduct research and/or collaborate with
colleagues at Spanish academic and research institutions; or a combination of

Invitation letter required or recommended for most awards (see CIES webpage), indicating the name and position of the academic adviser with whom the scholar will collaborate, and specifying the teaching program and work load or indicating the availability of research resources.
For the Flex grant, an invitation letter is required and must indicate:
|Grant Duration||All Disciplines Senior Research and Lecturing Award: three and a half months|
Flex Senior Research award: total grant length of four to six months, with one annual stay of two to three months over a maximum period of two years.Co-sponsored awards: as indicated in each award description.
Juior Research: five to nine months.
|Grant Period||Grants must begin between September 2018 and May 2019.|

Host institutions are encouraged to note direct and in-kind contributions (such as facilities) in the letter of invitation. These contributions help maximize the benefits provided by the Fulbright Program and can serve as a sign of the host institution’s commitment to the particular project.
