The Penn Humanities Forum at the University of Pennsylvania is awarding five one-year Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships for the 2012-2013 academic year. This fellowship is available to untenured scholars in the humanities who received or will receive their Ph.D. between December 2003 and December 2011. Fellows teach one undergraduate course in addition to conducting their research, and they are required to be in residence during their fellowship year (September to May). The fellowship stipend is $46,500, plus health insurance. Fellows also receive a research fund of $2500.
For the 2012–2013 academic year, the theme for the fellowship will be “Peripheries.” Humanists and those in related fields are invited to submit research proposals on any aspect of this topic. Interested scholars must submit a completed application online by Saturday, October 15, 2011. Awards will be announced by the end of December 2011.
