English Teaching Assistantships. Comunidad de Madrid. For Academic Year 2017-2018

26 new grants plus 2 renewals for secondary school teaching assistants in the Region of Madrid. These grants are co-sponsored by the Comunidad de Madrid (Regional Government of Madrid).

Schools are located all over the region of Madrid, not only in Madrid city. 

Objectives ​Assistant teaching in secondary schools. Assisting of permanent teaching staff in the classroom for up to 16 hours per week, with an additional two hours for planning & coordination meetings. Responsibilities include assistant teaching in English in subjects such as social studies, science and technology, art, physical education and English language. Directing conversation groups, in some cases with school staff.

For the first five or six months of the grant, ETAs will prepare students for the Global Classrooms: Model United Nations (UN) Program.

Deadline for submission of applications From 03-April-2016 to 06-October-2016
Disciplines ​English, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Arts, and Music.

International Relations through the Global Classrooms / Model United Nations program.
Requirements United States citizenship and being a University graduate or in the last year of studies. Initiative and flexibility to serve as a teaching assistant in English and other classes. Teaching and/or tutoring experience is an advantage but not required.

Candidates with dual U.S./Spanish citizenship are not eligible to apply.

Grant Duration ​9 months.
Grant Period ​September 15, 2016 - June 14, 2017.

Attendance at the Madrid orientation prior to the starting date is mandatory.
Grant Benefits The following amounts are for reference only and might be adjusted:
  • ​$1,170 travel expenses;
  • 1,300€ monthly maintenance;
  • 200€ relocation allowance;
  • Up to 500€ for project-related expenses;
  • Health coverage up to $100,000.
