Observations | Fulbright secondary school teaching assistants are actively involved in the Global Classrooms: Model United Nations (UN) Program. It is an integral part of the program, considered an important tool in the teaching of English, and given high priority by the Fundación Botín. Grantees initially explain the protocol to the students and then work with them on the subject matter throughout the year up until the time of the model conference in Santander, usually around the end of February. Finally, some students and usually a Fulbright TA in Cantabria are selected to participate in the UNA-USA Model UN Conference at the UN Headquarters in New York in May. This program significantly enhances the activities of the Fulbright TAs at their schools and with their students.
